Welcome to Matt's Personal Fundraising Page
My dad, Steve Frankel, was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease 18 years ago. As you can imagine, his diagnosis was extremely difficult for my family to accept and comprehend since he was only in his early 50’s. However, his strength, wisdom, positive attitude and love continue to guide our family today. He has always been there for each of us and now it is our turn to be there for him.
Parkinson’s disease, a debilitating progressive neurological disease (as Michael J. Fox and Mohammed Ali have courageously demonstrated), takes a tremendous physical and emotional toll on those inflicted with this devastating disease. They are a reminder that we can be robbed of our good health with little or no warning. Presently, there are about one million Americans who suffer from Parkinson’s disease with 60,000 new cases diagnosed each year.
At the beginning of this year, Carrie and I decided to sign-up for the Los Angeles Marathon (our first marathon) on Sunday, March 19th to honor my father and help the Parkinson’s Association raise money to find a cure to stop this devastating disease. Carrie and I have been training hard and finished our last long runs yesterday….22 miles each!
My family created “TEAM FRANKEL” in honor of my dad. We would appreciate and encourage you to join our team, make a donation big or small, and/or spread the word to friends and family! Any support you provide is truly appreciated.
